Former U.S. Olympian Mark Pavelich, attempting a comeback after two years away from hockey, was released by the San Jose Sharks.

Pavelich, 31, had one assist in two games for the Sharks in his first NHL appearances since 1986-87. Pavelich, a member of the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team who played five seasons with the New York Rangers, scored 137 goals and 192 assists in 355 NHL games over seven seasons.
