That old stand-by Ritz cracker with its familiar golden color and perforated surface is now being made with whole wheat. The no cholesterol, low saturated fat snack retails for $1.99 for the 111/2-ounce package.
Don Russell: "We enjoyed these crackers. Actually I didn't notice much difference between these crackers and traditional Ritz crackers. The whole wheat version is a little drier and tastes a little bit like wheat."Nearly all of us have tasted Ritz. Try these crackers if you'd like a cracker that is a wee bit more healthy for you or if you just plain want a Ritz with a different spin to it."
Nihla Lake: "The ingredient lists for the `old' and `new' Ritz crackers were almost identical - the only exception seemed to be the addition of whole wheat flour to the new variety.
"The whole wheat flour gave the Ritz a coarser texture and a more pleasant taste, which we preferred over the old favorite. A good cracker was made better. It even contained less fat."
Judy Slack Wilson: "These are good! Not quite as good as Wheat Thins, but they are good. I will buy them again with the right price."
Edyth Jensen: "We really enjoyed the wheat Ritz crackers. The wheat gives a different taste, which is obvious, but they were more than just another cracker."
Linda C. Tingey: "You can have these! I didn't care for them, I thought they were quite tough. I love Wheat Thins and I want my Ritz to taste like Ritz! I give the wheat Ritz a big zero."
Rich Firmage: "These new Ritz crackers were great. I like the regular Ritz and these tasted just about the same. The idea of having whole wheat in them sure sounds healthier. Whether they are or not, I still like them. In fact, I've already bought another box."
Conclusion: It looks like you can make a better cracker if you add a little whole wheat. Unless you are a real traditionalist, it's RAH, RAH for RITZ!!
