Former President Ronald Reagan has done his Irish heritage proud by accepting the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.

The medallion was presented Friday at Reagan's Los Angeles office by William Fugazy, Jerry Jacob and Brad Corbett, all representing the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations. The coalition is the official sponsor of the medal, which honors distinguished representatives of the nation's multitude of ethnic backgrounds.Past recipients include former Rep. Barbara Jordan, entertainers Paul Simon and Frank Sinatra and CBS newscaster Eric Severeid. The coalition represents 66 of the country's largest ethnic and heritage organizations.
