After a short but courageous battle with cancer, Evan passed away July 8, 1991 at the age of 62.

Born May 22, 1929 in Deseret, Utah to Leigh Richmond and Fanny Louise Cowley Allred. Married Barbara Klea Hawkins, April 21, 1955 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. The most important thing in his life was his family. He received his early education in Deseret, Utah and he excelled in many sports as a young man. Graduated from BYU with a B.S. in 1951 and an M.S. in 1956. Graduated with a Ph.D. from UCLA in 1959. He was a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Utah from 1964-1991, where he touched the lives of many students. Evan was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many offices including callings in the Bishopric, Sunday School, MIA, High Priest Quorum and Elders Quorum. Received many honors and awards including being listed in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World.He is survived by his wife; his son Kevin Michael and his wife Shelly; his grandchildren, Amy and Matthew whom he loved dearly; his son Richard Paul and his wife Carol Anne; his sons, Steven Leigh and Craig Lynn. Preceded in death by his mother, father and his brother, LaVoy. We love you dad and grandpa. We will miss you.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 12 Noon, July 11, 1991 in the Olympus Stake Center, 4430 South 2700 East. Friends may call at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the Church on Thursday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to the services.
