To the editor:
Today it is touted, even bragged of, what a patriotic nation we are. Yet is this true patriotism? Pseudo-patriotism clearly disguises our home-grown socialists and tyrants who make all manner of political promises. Meanwhile, they create artificial crises by making pacts with foreign tyrants and madmen to stage wars, economic depressions, food shortages, etc., and artificial solutions to these crises. This will destroy all God-given rights as outlined in the 1787 Constitution. The Book of Mormon tells many examples of the majority being deceived by home-grown robbers and communists with all tactics employed simultaneously. This falls right into Hitler's tactics of getting the youth believing they were being "patriotic" by telling on their parents or whomever didn't obey "the law."
When people say "the law," ask whose law, God's or man's? Man-made laws and commandments are often carnal, sensual and devilish and trample the commandments of God.
Obedience to God is the first law under heaven, and we believe in being subject to presidents, rulers, etc., and in obeying, honoring and sustaining the law, meaning the constitutional law of the land. If our leaders are not obeying the constitutional law of the land and are making evil laws which trample God's laws, we are to forsake such evils.
Patriotism means to stand by the country (the Constitution). It doesn't mean to stand by the president or any other public official, save exactly to the degree he himself stands by the country. It is unpatriotic not to oppose him to the extent that he fails in his duty to stand by the Constitution.
In either event, it is unpatriotic not to tell the truth - whether about the president or anyone else - save where it would make known to the enemy information of military value which would otherwise be unknown to him. Learn and apply these correct principals.
