BYU's Shu-Hwa Wang left Saturday for Tokyo, Japan, to compete in two events at the World Track and Field Championships August 24 through September 1.

The 5-7 All-American long jumper from Mioli, Taiwan, who just completed her freshman year at BYU, will enter both the long jump and the 100-meter hurdles events. No stranger to international meets, Wang has competed in Europe and Asia and in the 1988 Olympic Games as a member of the Taiwan National Track and Field Team.

In July, she set a personal best and Taiwan long jump record of 21 feet 11/4 at the World University Games in Sheffield, England.
