Krisztina Egerszegi of Hungary broke the world record in the 200-meter backstroke with a time of 2 minutes, 6.62 seconds in the European Swimming Championships on Sunday. The 17-year-old shattered American Betsy Mitchell's 1986 mark of 2:08.60.
