Alberto C. Mena, age 60, passed away September 14, 1991, at his home in Salt Lake City following a six month battle with cancer.

He was born May 25, 1931, in Banes, Oriente, Cuba to Crisogono and Marina Mena. His father was a physician and his mother was a pharmacist. Emigrated to the United States with his mother and two sisters in 1947. Graduated from Washington High School, New York City; earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Portland State University. Honorably discharged from the U.S. Army following service in the Korean War, 1950-52.Alberto had been employed in an administrative capacity by the Union Pacific Railroad for 22 yars at the time of his death. Alberto authored Spanish language publications for the Union

Pacific; translated for many Spanish speaking railroad employees.

Among Alberto's hobbies was the theatre. He danced professionally in many summer stock Broadway musicals; his most notable performances were with the Pittsburgh Light Operation Company. In later years Alberto traveled to New York each year to see Broadway's new shows. He enjoyed performances by Ballet West, the Utah Symphony and, Pioneer Theatre Company.

Alberto is survived by his friend and companion, Gregg Hamilton, Salt Lake City; a sister, Ofelia Mena, Whittier, California; a niece, Nydia Cutler, New York City; and his faithful dog, Duncan. Preceded in death by a sister, Rosa Mena, Sharon Springs, New York, October, 1988.

A memorial service for Alberto will be conducted by The Reverend JoAnn Leach of the Cathedral Church of St. Mark (Episcopal), 231 East 100 So., Friday, Sept. 20, 1991 at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to Community Nursing Service Hospice.
