Dynix Inc. has contracted with the National Library of Canada to automate the library's acquisition, serials control and circulation functions.

The contract terminates a rigorous evaluation and procurement process which began in November 1990 and involved the staff of the National Library. The system implementation began this past summer and will be completed by early fall of 1992. Project leader is Gisele DeVillers, of the Information Technology Services Branch.A National Library of Canada implementation project team has been formed to ensure the succesful installation of the in-house system. Project work will involve providing from DOBIS, training staff, implementing the operational modules and barcoding of the National Library collection. The library contains more than 1.3 million bibliographic records.

National Library of Canada joins the ranks of more than 800 worldwide users of the Dynix system, including the National Libraries of Australia and New Zealand and more than 52 libraries in Canada.
