Lady Oona Chaplin, wife of the late Charlie Chaplin, died Friday at age 66, Swiss Radio said.
No cause of death was given and telephone calls to Lady Oona's home went unanswered.Lady Oona was the daughter of playwright Eugene O'Neill and the fourth wife of Chaplin, the internationally renowned comic hero. Together they had eight children.
After Chaplin's death in 1977, Lady Oona continued to live at the Manoir de Ban overlooking this village above Lake Geneva. The 18th century mansion was bought by Chaplin in 1953.
A frequent visitor to the lake with her beloved husband, Lady Oona became reclusive after his death and was rarely seen in public.
She was noticeably absent from celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of "Charlot" in 1989. Organizers at the event at the time said she was unwell.
