The presidium of the Russian Athletics Federation disqualified middle-distance runner Natalya Artyomova for life for testing positive for a banned substance and trying to deceive testers.

Federation chairman Valentin Balakhichev said the federation's ruling body reviewed an earlier decision to disqualify Artyomova for four years.After Artyomova's positive doping test at a Grand Prix meet in Oslo, Norway, July 4, she allegedly tried to replace the positive blood sample and deceive doctors.
