Running back Marcus Allen says Los Angeles Raiders owner Al Davis is trying to ruin the latter part of his career and keep him out of football's Hall of Fame.
Davis, a former player, coach and commissioner who is in the Hall of Fame, denied the charges.Allen and Davis allegedly have feuded throughout Allen's 12 years in Los Angeles, although Allen's comments Monday were his strongest yet about the relationship.
Asked if he believes Davis has a personal vendetta against him, Allen replied, "No question about it. Absolutely."
In conversations with Davis, Allen said, "He told me he was going to get me. I don't know for what reason, but he told me he's going to get me."
"It's totally fraudulent," Davis told The Associated Press during the game. "I leave it to (coach) Art Shell. He makes all the decisions."
"What do you think about a guy that has attempted to ruin your career?" Allen said. "When someone messes with your livelihood - this is what I've wanted to do since I was 8 years old - and this very thing has been taken away from me and not, I don't think, for a business reason, but for a personal reason."
Allen's playing time has dropped significantly this season as he has shared duty with Eric Dickerson and Nick Bell.
"It's just been an outright joke to sit on the sidelines and not get the opportunity to play," Allen said.
