Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, LeGrand Paul Buma, age 75, passed away Dec. 14, 1992, in Salt Lake City.
LeGrand was born July 10, 1917, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Lutzen and Elizabeth Grundmann Buma. He married Marietta Vanden Akker, October 25, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a ceremony which was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a High Priest in the LDS Church; an ordinance worker in the Jordan River LDS Temple; and served a mission with his wife in the California/Los Angeles Mission. He served four years in the Navy aboard the USS Tennessee and USS Savannah. However, he was most noted for his years as the Operator of an American Oil service station on 900 E. 3300 So. He was a kind and loving individual, respected by all who knew him.Survivors include his wife, Marietta; five sons, Grant, Salt Lake City; John (wife Janet), Sandy; Paul (wife, Melinda), West Jordan; Glenn (wife, Diane), Salt Lake City; and Robert (wife, Carolyn), Sandy; three daughters, Virginia (husband, Roger) Davis, Ogden; Joanne (husband, Thomas) White, Riverton; and Patricia Martindale, Taylorsville; 32 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry (wife Maureen), Salt Lake City.
Funeral services Friday December 18, 1992,
1 p.m., Olympus Sixth Ward, 3070 East Nila Way (4170 So.), with Bishop Dave Ebbert officiating. Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m., at the Holbrook Funeral Chapel, 3251 So. 2300 East, and at the church Friday one hour prior to the services. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
