Rapper Ice Cube riled gang members during a concert that was followed by street violence as the audience left after the show, a witness said.

Police said 30 to 50 shots were fired from at least five weapons during the violence Saturday.Five young men were treated at Harborview Medical Center, including four with gunshot wounds, a nursing supervisor said. Nine people were arrested and five were booked for investigation of assault, including two juveniles.

A concertgoer told KING-TV that Ice Cube taunted gang members in the audience.

"The situation was that he provoked gang members . . . and he basically told them they wasn't no gang, they were wannabes," said the man, who wasn't identified. "He was just getting them madder and madder."

A member of Ice Cube's entourage denied the rapper mocked gang members.

A fight erupted inside the Paramount Theater during the show, but the trouble passed. After the concert ended and the audience was shuffling out, someone was stabbed outside the theater.

Two plainclothes detectives were fired on from a passing car, returned the fire and hit the car's driver, Pluth said. The car collided with another vehicle and struck a pedestrian. The car's occupants were taken into custody.
