THE PRINCIPAL
Vernon M. Henshaw became principal in 1988. Before becoming principal: Assistant principal for four years at Provo High School. Received his bachelor's degree in sociology in 1977, master's degree in secondary education administration in 1980 and doctorate of education in 1989, all from Brigham Young University.
What he likes about being principal: "Working with seniors during the second semester of their senior year because of their excitement for the memories that they're going to leave behind and the challenges they are going to face in the future."
What he dislikes about being principal: "I really dislike the fact that it's so big that from a principal's standpoint it becomes an impersonal relationship. It's more impersonal the larger we get. I go someplace and see kids and recognize they belong to the school, but I don't know their names or much about them because of the size."
