Detroit's Dennis Rodman, the NBA's leading rebounder and a member of the team that allowed the league's fewest points, Friday was named winner of the Schick Award for outstanding contributions to his team's success.
The award winner is determined by a computer evaluation of a player's key offensive and defensive statistics. Rodman averaged 9.8 points and 18.7 rebounds per game.Under the system, Rodman finished with 109.73 points, far ahead of San Antonio's David Robinson, the award winner in 1990 and 1991 and runner-up this season with 93.77.
New York's Patrick Ewing was third with 92.95 points, followed by Philadelphia's Charles Barkley with 90.73 and Utah's Karl Malone with 89.33.
