The Philadelphia Eagles signed Jim McMahon to a one-year contract Friday, giving the team six quarterbacks in training camp.
McMahon will join the team Monday, missing Saturday's home exhibition opener against Cincinnati.Despite arm problems last season, the 32-year-old McMahon helped lead the Eagles to a 10-6 record after Randall Cunningham went down with a season-ending knee injury in the first game.
McMahon earned $575,000 in base pay plus $500,000 in performance bonuses in 1991. He reportedly was seeking $1.2 million in base salary this season. His agent, Steve Zucker, did not return a phone call to his office Friday for comment on the contract.
Quarterbacks David Archer and Jeff Kemp signed one-year contracts in July. Second-year man Brad Goebel and free agent Peter Graham are also in camp.
