Jack B. Parson, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Wednesday, Dcember 30, 1992, at his home of heart failure.

He was born December 5, 1911, in Logan, a son of Edgar Axel and Anna D. Thompson Parson. He married Bonnie Fulkerson January 18, 1933, in Logan. He started working on road construction at age 15. He founded the Jack B. Parson Companies in 1952 and worked very hard to make the company a success. Jack was a very loyal Aggie supporter throughout his life and a generous philanthropist in donating blacktop paving for both the USU Stadium and the Spectrum parking lots. He also established endowments to both Utah State University and Weber State University to help students further their education.He was a very caring individual and his family and loving wife brought great joy to him. He will be greatly missed by all of those who shared a part of his life.

He had been president of the Logan Golf and Country Club, a member of the Rotary Club, Exalted Ruler of Logan Elks Lodge and president of the Utah Elks Association. He had served as Utah State President of Associated General Contractors of America and served as a national director. He received the prestigious Eric W. Ryberg award. The award is the Utah Associated General Contractors' highest honor, given annually to a deserving Utah contractor. At the time of his death he was a High Priest in the Logan 24th LDS Ward.

He is survived by: His wife, of Logan; three sons and daughters-in-law, and one daughter and son-in-law; Jack B. Parson, Jr. and DeAnne W. Parson of Brigham City; Ned F. and Marilyn M. Parson of Ogden; Michael E. and Rhonda C. Parson of Cove; and Kathryn Lee and Dr. John R. Lee of Scottsdale, Arizona; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by: two brothers, Ray Parson of Provo; Joe Parson of Mexico. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Norm, Wilf and Bob Parson, and two sisters, Lorane and Dorothy Mae.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 4, 1993, at 12 noon, in the Logan 24th Ward Chapel, 1260 North 1600 East, with Bishop Robert Jensen conducting. Friends may call at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan, on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., and at the church on Monday, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Sunshine Terrace or the American Heart Association.
