John Inman prevailed in a five-way playoff to win the Southern Open, his first PGA Tour victory since rookie season in 1987.

Inman finished regulation at 10-under-par 278, tied with Mark Brooks, Billy Andrade, Brad Bryant and Bob Estes. Inman shot a 2-under 70 final round, earned $126,000, a new car and moved from 125th to 66th on the money list.Inman and Estes, who led by two strokes coming in, birdied the first playoff hole to eliminate Andrade, Bryant and Brooks.

On the par-4 10th, Inman made a 7-foot birdie putt. Estes, who shot a final-round 72, was just short.
