What started as a family business in Colorado under the name SoundTrack, has exploded into Utah as Ultimate Electronics, Inc.
Two of the electronics stores have opened along the Wasatch Front, one in the Brickyard Plaza in Salt Lake City and one in the University Festival Center in Orem (south of University Mall).With approximately 33,000 square feet, the Orem Ultimate Electronics has been billed as the largest electronics retail store in the Mountain West and the largest store built by the company.
According to president and CEO Bill Pearse, the company recently went public and is registered as ULTE on the NASDAQ exchange.
"We went public to raise money for expansion, which made this store possible," Pearse said.
After entering the store you realize that the decor is not the only thing impressive about the establishment. The company offers a comprehensive selection of high quality, brand name television, video, home audio, automotive electronics, and home office products. The store has more than 8,000 items representing 160 brand names.
The new store also features three car stereo demonstration rooms, five home audio demonstration areas, a home office area including computers, fax machines and telephones. In addition, there are two home theater demonstration rooms, two fully equipped cars in the store to demonstrate the latest mobile electronics technology, and a six-bay car stereo installation center.
Referring to the first week of operation, manager Mark Levine said, "It's been fun - we're having a real good time with this." And, according to Levine, that's what Ultimate Electronics hopes its customers have while visiting the store. For families with small children an Ultimate Kid City is provided to keep them entertained while the parents go shopping.
