Melissa Jensen, 11, daughter of Albert and Dee Ann Jensen of Salt Lake City, was named third runner-up in the 1993 Pre-teen Utah Scholarship and Recognition Program, held recently in Salt Lake City. Melissa won a $100 scholarship, trophy, medallion and plaque. She also won the high-point trophy in the on-stage poise and personality category. In addition, she won $100 and a trophy for taking first-place honors in the optional talent competition.

Robert E. Taylor, CCI Mechanical, Salt Lake City, was inducted into the elite College of Fellows of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association in September at its annual convention.Ashley Rhinehart, daughter of Lynda Phillips of Salt Lake City, has earned a place in the 1993-94 Garnet Circle academic society at Erskine College in South Carolina.

- Navy Hospitalman Nona R. Williams, daughter of Marcella K. Turner of Salt Lake City, was recently selected as Junior Sailor of the Quarter at Naval Hospital in Newport, R.I.

- Navy Lt. j.g. Lanny G. Johnston, son of Walter and Carolyn Johnston of Sunset, has been named a Navy flight officer after completing 18 months of flight training at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla.

- Navy Lt. Steven M. Benner, son of Herbert and Virginia Ben-ner of Salt Lake City, was recently awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for superior performance while serving with the Naval ROTC unit at the University of Utah.

- Marine Lt. Col. Lewis W. Rol-lins, son of Lewis T. and Mary Rol-lins of Salt Lake City, was recently promoted to his present rank and reported for duty with the 4th Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

- Navy Ensign Matthew P. Jensen, son of Richard and JoAnn Jensen of Salt Lake City, recently completed primary flight training at Naval Air Station Whiting Field in Milton, Fla.

- Navy Seaman Ross C. Wi-berg, son of Ron Wiberg of Layton, recently completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

- Marine Lance Cpl. Patrick A. Onstott, son of Leroy and Helen Onstott of Layton, was honored recently along with the rest of his squadron as a member of the Marine Corps Aviation Association vertical/short takeoff and landing of the year.
