POCKY & ROCKY
Formats: Super Nintendo 16-Bit System.Price, manufacturer: $59.95, Natsume.
Recommended ages: 6 and up.
How the game works: This two-player game is the story of a young girl named Pocky who possesses powerful magical abilities. She teams up with a former enemy, Rocky the Raccoon (the leader of the Nopino goblins), who tells Pocky that his fellow goblins are under a spell and are being controlled by another. Your mission is to bring peace back to the land by leading Pocky and Rocky through six treacherous levels. You get to use magic cards and a magic stick for Pocky and magic leaves and a magic tail for Rocky.
Good points, bad points: Natsume's "Kid Friendly" line is designed for kids under 12 and parents who want less violent games. The graphics are top-quality, and the game reminds you of many Mario Bros.-type games. The instruction booklet is in both English and Spanish, a first among video games. Both characters can use defensive and offensive capabilities at the same time - one of the few games that permits this.
The verdict: A good game for parent and child to play together.
