Ohio State has completed plans for travel and accommodations at the Holiday Bowl in San Diego.

On Monday, it also made plans to bury one of the Buckeyes' most popular players.Jayson Gwinn, a backup defensive end, was killed early Sunday morning in a two-car collision less than a mile from Ohio Stadium.

As the Buckeyes went through a workout at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, Gwinn's younger brother Anthony - who came to Ohio State to join his brother on the football team - watched from the sidelines and tried to put his grief into words.

"I'll see him when I get there, that's the attitude I have," Anthony said. "I'm not going to say it's easy. But death is a part of life. Like everything else in life, you've got to learn how to handle it."

Jayson Gwinn, 20, was pronounced dead about 3 a.m. at the accident scene.

The redshirt freshman had played an increasingly large role as 11th-ranked Ohio State won a share of the Big Ten title during a 9-1-1 regular season.

The Buckeyes will wear Jayson Gwinn's No. 49 on their helmets when they play Brigham Young in the Holiday Bowl Dec. 30 in San Diego.

A teammate at Ohio State and Columbus' Brookhaven High School, starting defensive back Marlon Kerner, will wear 49 on his jersey for the game.

"We'll dedicate the game to him and do everything we can to win it for him," coach John Cooper said.

Gwinn was killed not long after getting medical treatment for a teammate who had been shot at a local nightclub. Marvin "Obie" Stillwell was shot once in the buttocks after an altercation. Gwinn helped Stillwell into Gwinn's car, then was driving him to the hospital when he encountered an ambulance about eight blocks from the nightclub.

At Gwinn's urging, the ambulance took Stillwell to Ohio State University Medical Center about 2:45 a.m. Stillwell was listed in good condition late Monday after surgery to remove the bullet.

Soon after, Gwinn was northbound on Olentangy River Rd. when his car collided with one driven by another Ohio State student, Keri Adams, 21, of Dayton. Adams, driving east on Lane Avenue, was treated at the hospital Sunday and released.
