GRUNGE SHOW GOES ON AFTER SINGER CALLS IN SICK

It was supposed to be the hottest grunge show of the year, but half of it - Pearl Jam - canceled when singer Eddie Vedder called in sick.

The Seattle performance by Pearl Jam was scheduled for MTV's "Live and Loud" show with Nirvana, part of a package to be broadcast New Year's Eve.Vedder called in sick with the flu just hours before the show, MTV said. But Nirvana took the stage and tore through more than 15 songs in front of about 2,000 raucous fans.
