Brigham Young University's School of Accountancy and Information Systems received the 1993 Innovation in Accounting Education Award for its development and implementation of a new accounting core curriculum at BYU.
The award was presented by the American Accounting Association, a group of accounting professors in the United States and Canada. The school received a plaque and $5,000. The monetary portion of the award - provided by Ernst & Young Foundation to encourage and recognize innovation in accounting education - will go to support programs in the school.The award-winning BYU curriculum revisions were based on extensive research on the expanded competencies needed by accounting graduates and resulted in a number of innovations for the junior year.
