Crown Energy Corp., 215 S. State, has entered into a strategic alliance with a major oil service company and leader in soil washing equipment design and fabrication to construct and operate the initial oil extraction facility at Crown's Asphalt Ridge tar sands deposit near Vernal.
The final analysis of the mechanical, physical and chemical variables to optimize full-scale production is expected to be completed by March 1994. Crown has 54 million barrels of drill-proven oil reserves in the area.A company spokesman said after the analytical objectives are achieved, plans call for the 3,000-barrel-per-day oil extraction facility to be completed and commercial production to begin.
Crown won't pay any costs connected with building but will retain a 50 percent working interest.
