The acquisition of Morris Air by Southwest Airlines will have no impact on the ownership or operation of Morris Travel, the travel agency said Tuesday.

"While (Morris Travel and Morris Air) developed out of a travel agency started in 1970, the two organizations were separated six years ago, resulting in completely different ownership, management and missions since that time," said Mark Slack, president of Morris Travel.Since the separation of the two Salt Lake-based companies in 1987, Morris Travel has been a full-service travel agency for commercial clients and individual customers, said Slack. In that capacity, it represents all airlines, cruise lines, tour companies and other travel suppliers. It also provides its own travel-related services.

Also, last year, Morris Travel affiliated with American Express to provide worldwide travel and financial services through that company.

Slack said the sale of Morris Air will not affect Morris Travel in any way.

"Our management and 400 service representatives at our 35 offices throughout Utah and Idaho will continue to be available at the same locations and phone numbers," said Slack.
