Christmas is just days away and Santa's feeling a little panicky. The jolly old elf still needs help providing gifts for hundreds of children through the Deseret News Sub for Santa program.
Without the help, he fears the children will awake on Christmas morning to find a tree bereft of gifts - and in many cases, no tree.Hundreds of families have registered for help through the program, and many of them have been sponsored. But at least 100 families remain.
Sponsors can be individuals or groups who are willing to provide a few Christmas gifts for the children in a needy family. The program gives information about the ages of the children, along with suggestions from the parents. Sponsors are asked to contact the adults to find out what the children need and make arrangements to deliver the items.
Some families may also need a little help with food for a holiday meal. All families have been screened to verify need and to eliminate duplication.
