According to social psychologist Barbara Ilardi of the University of Rochester, workers who think they are competent, who care about co-workers, and who feel they have some control over how to do their work tend to be better employees and are happier on the job than others - even if their bosses don't rate them highly."A modest amount of self-confidence seems to help job performance," Ilardi says.
