Robert M. Swasey, 81, of Moab, died Monday, December 13, 1993 at his home.
He was born December 31, 1911 in Mona, Utah, the son of Dudley and Jennie (Scott) Swasey. He attended schools in Mona and Nephi. Robert married Jane Fish on October 10, 1936 in Castle Dale and their marriage was solemnized in February of 1960 in the Manti Temple. They lived in Wellington for about 50 years before moving to Moab in June of 1988, where Robert was a coal miner. He loved fishing, hunting and especially gardening.Robert is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife, Jane, Moab; son, Gerald (Verla) Swasey of Moab; daughters, Mary Ellen (LeRoy) Hunt and Kathleen Jane (Fred) Huggins, both of Palmer, Alaska; brothers, Alden (Afton) Swasey, Wellington and Harold (Phyllis) Swasey of Herriman; sister, Sadie (Alvin) Goble of Nephi; 13 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by two brothers, Don and Charles, and three sisters, Bernice, and in infancy, Olive and Aletha.
There will be a viewing at Disch Funeral Home in Moab Tuesday, December 14 between 7 - 9 p.m., also from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, December 15 at the LDS Stake Center in Moab, with services starting at 10 a.m. Graveside services will start at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 15 at the Wellington City Cemetery with interment to follow, Bishop Edward Johnson of the 4th Ward in Moab presiding.
