Alpine School District officials announced Tuesday night that students will begin attending Mountain Ridge Junior High School in Highland on Jan. 18.
Students now within the Mountain Ridge boundary are attending American Fork Junior High School until the new school is complete. The district originally planned to move into the school in November. Construction delays and difficulties in getting subcontractors, however, have delayed the school's opening.Kurt Tingey, construction manager, said the school will be 80 percent complete by Jan. 3 and ready to turn over to the district Jan. 14. District officials will begin moving equipment and furniture into the school during Christmas break and the first few weeks of January. Files and classroom materials will be moved to the new school when students are off for Human Rights Day. On Jan. 14, students will take a field trip to the new school to get acquainted with its layout.
