Salt Lake police are investigating three unrelated robberies at businesses Sunday.
About 8:15 p.m., employees were locking up the back door at Dairy Queen, 1247 S. 1100 East, when a man with a revolver confronted them. The gunman demanded that they give him money, but the employees told him the cash was inside. The robber, wearing a blue bandana over his face, ordered them back into the restaurant and ordered them to lie on the floor while he took some money. He then stole a wallet, a purse and a radio from the employees, a Salt Lake police report states.
A man entered Circle K, 910 N. 900 West, about 7:45 p.m. Sunday, took two cases of beer and left without paying. Employees followed him and saw him jump into a car waiting in a nearby parking lot.
Five people came into Dee's restaurant, 167 W. North Temple, about 3:15 a.m. Sunday, created a disturbance and then left. Employees called police because they believed there was going to be a fight in the parking lot.
Moments later, two of the five people came back inside and approached the counter. They said they wanted to eat but only had $11, according to a police report.
One of the men then said, "Give me all of the money in your cash register." The man told the employee he was serious and threatened, "I'll slice you up."
Knowing that police were on their way, the employee stalled until they arrived. Officers handcuffed the 18-year-old suspect and put him in a patrol car. The handcuffed suspect, however, got out of the car and ran off. Police captured him a short distance away.
