A Salt Lake couple woke up Tuesday morning to discover a partially naked man sleeping on the floor in their bedroom.
The man, 29, was arrested and booked into jail for investigation of burglary and sex abuse. An 18-year-old Central City woman was sleeping in bed when she felt someone stroking her leg about 5 a.m., a Salt Lake police report states. She asked who was there and a male voice answered it was the dog. She told police she thought she was dreaming.
She then felt a bare back and felt someone touch her feet. The woman told her boyfriend she thought someone was in the bedroom with them, but he told her it was probably the puppy.
Minutes later, the couple heard snoring. The boyfriend turned on the light, found a man asleep on the floor and called police.
When officers arrived, the couple directed them to the bedroom, where the man was now asleep on their bed, according to the report. Police woke him up and handcuffed him.
The man told police he was in his own apartment and gave them his address. His apartment was actually three-quarters of a block away and on the opposite side of the street.
Once at the jail, officers learned there were warrants for his arrest, one for assault and one for lewdness.
