A fire that caused an estimated $25,000 damage to a Clinton home Tuesday was apparently started by a 5-year-old boy playing with matches, according to Clinton police.

The 11 a.m. fire in the home in the 1600 West block of 1620 North Street was reported by the boy, who police said called the 911 emergency number to report that his house was on fire and he couldn't put it out. The boy was home alone at the time, police said.A passing UPS delivery person saw the fire and got the boy out shortly before fire and police units arrived on the scene, according to police.
