An anonymous telephone bidder paid $510,000 at auction in New York Wednesday for the Academy Award won by the British actress for "Gone with the Wind." It was the highest price ever paid for one of the statuettes.Leigh won the Oscar for best actress in 1940. She died in 1967. The award was sold by her family.
