Provo City Council

In its Dec. 14 meeting, the council:

- Postponed to Jan. 11 a public hearing on an ordinance creating a new research and business park support zone. The zone would allow the construction of up to a 90-foot-high building. Embassy Suites has plans to build an eight-story hotel in the Riverbottoms.

- Set a Jan. 15 application deadline for Community Development Block Grant funds for 1994-95 fiscal year. A grace period will extend the deadline to Jan. 31.

- Approved a resolution regulating cable TV rates in accordance with the 1992 Cable TV Act and FCC guidelines.

- Appropriated $17,100 for a revolving video collection at the library and $70,809 for storm-drain projects in west Provo.

- Acting as the Provo Redevelopment Agency, postponed consideration of new bylaws for further study; appropriated $257,000 to complete the purchase of the Ashton block, 100 N. Freedom Blvd.

- Appointed Mary Ann Andrus to the Board of Adjustment and named Dennis Poulsen as an alternate member of the board; appointed Ron Vigoren to the Civil Service Commission.
