A teenage girl was uninjured and her attacker jailed Tuesday after she jumped from a man's car when he made sexual advances and tried to kidnap her as she walked to school, police say.
The Central City man, 27, approached the 14-year-old girl at 875 S. State about 9:30 a.m. as she waited for a bus, a Salt Lake police report says. He complimented her on her appearance and said she had the potential to be a fashion model. He offered to give her a business card but couldn't find one in his car, the report says.During the exchange, the girl missed her bus and the man offered a ride. While they were in the car, he offered the girl drugs, asked if she wanted to make $300 or $400, then slid his hands between her legs, the report says.
The girl told police she didn't believe the man was going to release her and she jumped from the moving car to escape him. She sustained only scratches and continued on to school, then went home and told her mother, who called police.
The man was later arrested and taken to the Salt Lake County Jail. The man was also served with an unrelated warrant.
