Is Salt Lake City a "blues town"? It is if you've dropped by the Dead Goat Saloon or listened to KRCL on nights when "The Blue Devils Blues Revue" has been on the air over the past five years. And now that show's organizers and performers have put together an 11-song CD derived from those broadcasts.

"The Blue Devils Blues Revue - The Feature Edition" will be the focus of a CD release party at 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at the Dead Goat, 165 S. West Temple in Arrow Press Square. Blues guitarist Coco Montoya, who has worked with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and Albert Collins' Icebreakers, will be the featured performer on the program, which will of course be broadcast on KRCL (FM 91). There is a $6 cover charge for the show in the Dead Goat, and the CD will be available for $15.As it happens, the album kicks off with Montoya performing "You're So Mean to Me." Other live tracks are by Debbie Davies ("Bit by Bit [Little by LittleT"); Rob Rio ("Chiropractor Blues"); Steve Samuels ("Honey Boy"); Terry Hanck ("The Things That I Used to Do"); Earl Brown ("Hip Hug-Her"); Al Blake ("Rock Me, Baby"); Jimmy Beasley ("That Ain't Right"); Abu Talib ("Black Fox"); Freddie Roulette ("Crosscut Saw"), and Denny Freeman ("Soul Street").
