A few days ago, I watched in disgust as the Channel 4 news anchors gloated about the grand success of their new "NYPD Blue" program. I could not help but reflect just how far our present culture has degenerated.
At first this kind of filth is an abomination, then we tolerate it, and finally we accept it as inevitable. In my opinion, only sick minds could rationalize and promote a program that shows filthy language, pornography, illicit sex, profanity, brutality and ruthless killings on prime time that pollutes the precious minds of thousands of youngsters in our community.And, to add insult to injury, two police officers promoted the program as really an "OK show."
Is it any wonder that these lifestyles are becoming the rule instead of the exception and practiced by vast numbers of children from kindergarten through juveniles?
Oh yes, I've heard the solution, just turn it off. Come on, get real. This seldom, if ever, happens. The TV is now a glorified baby sitter, and the actions seen there fill the minds of children. To them it becomes reality, and they act it out daily at school, at home and in the street.
I pity the insensible people in our community who close their eyes and minds to this critical crisis. They continue in the name of freedom and civil rights to poison the minds of our most precious resource, our children with "OK programs" like "NYPD."
