Louis Glen Garrett, 90, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 1993 in Orem, Utah.
Mr. Garrett was born December 30, 1902 in Nephi, Utah, the son of Lewis and Estella Boswell Garrett. He spent his early years in Nephi where the family of three sisters and five brothers were engaged in farming and stock raising. Glen married Winnifred Cranney on May 11, 1927 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Mr. Garrett was engaged in the bottled milk business in both California and Utah. He was auditor and retail sales manager for Arden Farms in Los Angeles, California. In 1942, the family moved to Kaysville, Utah and Mr. Garrett became general manager and treasurer of Weber Central Dairy in Ogden. In 1964, Weber Central merged with other cooperatives into Federated Dairy Farms, Mr. Garrett being General Manager.
Glen served in many leadership positions. outside his chosen career. These include in part, Director and on the Executive committee of the National Milk Producers; Federation, the Advisory Committee to the Berkley Bank for Cooperatives, the Advisory Committee to First Security Bank, Board of Directors of Barnes Bank becoming the Chairman of the Board, Davis County School Board member, Board of Trustees of Utah State University, and LDS bishop.
He is survived by his wife and love, Winnifred; three sons, Dr. Glen Garrett of Orem; Dr. David Garrett of LaCanada, Calif.; Dr. Steven Garrett of Redlands, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Janice Critchfield of Oakley, Idaho; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. His greatest treasure was his family.
The funeral will be held Monday, December 20, at 10:30 a.m. in the Kaysville Tabernacle, 198 West Center, Kaysville, Utah. There will be a viewing at the Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday evening, and at the Tabernacle, 45 minutes prior to the service. Burial at the Nephi City cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Primary Children's Hospital.
