Two separate sting operations netted 12 arrests, one kilogram of cocaine and six ounces of heroin for Utah's DEA-Metropolitan Narcotics Task force in Salt Lake City Thursday night.
The arrests were the culmination of two unrelated undercover operations that ended late Thursday night. Officers also confiscated three cars and three handguns in the arrests.Deputy Director for the DEA-Metro Narcotics Task force, Terry Keefe, said undercover agents and officers placed large orders with suppliers, which started the chain of events that occurred Thursday.
After the deliveries, officers and agents acquired search warrants for two motel rooms and a private Salt Lake residence.
Keefe estimated the street value of the cocaine at about $100,000 and the heroin at $150,000.
