Claude Lemieux and Valeri Zelepukin scored 27 seconds apart late in the second period, sparking the New Jersey Devils to a 6-2 victory Saturday over the careless Quebec Nordiques.

The Devils, avoiding the loss of three straight games for the first time this season, also had goals from Jim Dowd, John MacLean, Stephane Richer and David Emma. It was the first career goal for Dowd, recalled earlier this week from New Jersey's AHL affiliate in Albany.Claude Lapointe and defenseman Craig Wolanin - with his first goal of the season - scored for the Nordiques, who lost their second in a row. They mustered only 21 shots at Martin Brodeur, while yielding 39.

Flyers 2, Blackhawks 2

Eric Lindros set up a shorthanded goal by Al Conroy, and Yves Racine scored on a power play in the second period to give Philadelphia the tie with surging Chicago.

Michel Goulet and Christian Ruuttu scored for the Blackhawks.

Philadelphia, 3-0-5 in its last eight games against Chicago, is 1-4-1 in its last six overall. But the Flyers have a win and a tie since Lindros returned from missing 14 games because of a knee injury.

Chicago is unbeaten in its last four (3-0-1) games and 11-3-2 in its last 16.

Whalers 4, Capitals 1

Alexander Godynyuk got three assists in his debut for Hartford as the Whalers broke a four-game winless streak with a win over Washington.

Godynyuk, playing in his first game since being acquired Thursday from the Florida Panthers in a trade for Jim McKenzie, assisted on goals by Geoff Sanderson, Jim Sandlak and Randy Cunneyworth. Zarley Zalapski also scored for Hartford.

Canadiens 8, Red Wings 1

Oleg Petrov scored three goals as the Montreal Canadiens ended Detroit's five-game winning streak.

Earlier this season, the Canadiens had ended Toronto's record 10-game winning streak and a seven-game winning run by the New Jersey Devils.

The Russian rookie had goals in each period to give him five goals in eight NHL games this season.

Bruins 5, Lightning 3

Ray Bourque and Paul Stanton scored 16 seconds apart in the third perios, rallying Boston.

Second-year Tampa Bay was held to a franchise-low one shot during the third-period collapse.

Maple Leafs 4, Kings 1

Dave Andreychuk scored twice and set up Bill Berg's goal as Toronto handed the Kings their 10th straight road loss.

Andreychuk's first goal was the 400th of his career. His second gave the veteran forward a league-leading 28th of the season.

Flames 5, Jets 4, OT

Ronnie Stern banged in the winner at 2:32 of overtime to give Calgary a victory.
