Erma Elizabeth Bennett Payne, 87, passed away December 17, 1993 at the home of her son in Mill Valley, California of causes incident to age.

She was born January 18, 1906 in Kaysville, Utah, the daughter of James E. and Eliza King Bennett. She married H. Joe (Hap) Payne October 6, 1928 in Ogden, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Hap died April 7, 1984.She was an active member of the Ogden 41st LDS Ward. She had served in the Relief Society presidency, as a Primary teacher and was a visiting teacher for many years.

She is survived by one son, Robert K. and wife Terese Payne, Mill Valley, Calif.; one daughter-in-law, Eleanor Payne, Ogden; five grandchildren, Jonathan, Tony, Samantha, Brad and Chris; two great-grandchildren, Whitnie and Erika; one brother, Ruben Bennett, Kaysville; three sisters, Afton Elison, Melba O'Brien, both of Layton; and Luella Cole, Las Vegas, Nevada.

She was preceded in death by two sons, James W. and Joe Boyd.; two brothers and four sisters; and grandson, Eric.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., where friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park.
