Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Edwin Nevin "Ted" Austin, age 82, passed away December 17, 1993 at his home after a brief, courageous battle with cancer.

Ted was born January 6, 1911 in Garland, Utah to Vera and Edwin Austin. He married Laurania Elmina "Rae" Empey, October 7, 1931 in the LDS Temple in Logan, Utah. Rae preceded him in death December 29, 1987. Ted married Jennie Keeler Gwilliam June 5, 1990 in the Jordan River LDS Temple.He was a retired executive of Skaggs Drug (American Stores), with whom he was associated for 35 years. He was an active and faithful member of the LDS Church and served in many callings in the church including Young Men's MIA president, Sunday School counselor, elders and high priest counselor, Ward Clerk and in the Northwestern States Mission as branch president counselor, branch president and district president counselor.

Ted was a very kind, loving and compassionate person. His family and friends were his number one priority. He devoted his life to taking care of any and all needs of his loved ones and many great friends. His was a life of service. He enjoyed the outdoors, and spent many treasured days working with his hunting dogs and fishing with his wife and children.

Surviving are his wife, Jennie; children, Lawrence Edwin Austin and wife Glenna of Phoenix, Ariz.; Bobby Lynn Austin and wife Ann of Salt Lake City; stepchildren, LaNae Heckman, Dale Gwilliam, John Gwilliam, Jill Davis, Dan Gwilliam, LeeAnn Clonts, Shauna Winters and Carl Gwilliam; a sister, Maxine Austin Adams of St. George, Utah; 47 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 23, 1993, 12 noon in the Grandview First Ward, 2930 South 20th East. Friends may call Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, and Thursday, 10:45-11:45 a.m. at the ward. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Drive.
