Question: How can an owl turn its head all the way around?

Answer: It can't. Just like you, an owl has eyes in front of its head and must twist its neck to look around. But an owl's neck is more flexible than yours. It can twirl 270 degrees or three-fourths of a circle, says 3-2-1 Contact magazine.Having a flexible neck helps make up for having eyes that can't move. Most birds can move their eyes from side to side. But an owl can barely move its eyes at all.

An owl swivels its neck so fast, its head seems to be spinning in a circle. But despite old legends about owls, you'll never be able to make one twist its head off by running it in circles!
