Genivee Cottle Hancock passed away December 18, 1993 after a valiant and courageous battle with complications of a lingering and debilitating illness.
She was born September 12, 1922 in Hooper, Utah to Orson P. and Zina Garner Cottle. She married Norman V. Hancock July 15, 1942 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple and was a member of the Bryan Ward.She was a cheerful person with many talents and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her skilled hands made beautiful crochet and knitted works and other handmade specialties, which she freely gave to family, friends and charities. She also gave freely and often anonymously of her many other gifts and talents. It was said that she could do anything with her hands. Her love for flowers and plants was unending. Her delightful sense of humor cheered many.
She also had a gift of sincere listening and was often sought out for her advice and counsel. She was a "second mother" to many. She was loved and cherished by many and will be greatly missed, but we are grateful that she is free of pain and suffering and is now at peace.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jeannette, and two sisters, Angie Francom and Norma Bambrough.
She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Jeannine R. Hancock of Salt Lake;and Mrs. Scott N. Kelsey (Connie Jean) of Tempe, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Michael, Jeffrey, Corey, Julie, Christopher, Matthew and Gregory of Tempe, who affectionately call her "Nana." She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Stanley Dahl (Della) of Roy, Utah.
Brief services will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, December 23, 1993 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, Salt Lake City.
