Jure Kosir, a 21-year-old Slovenian, beat Italian favorite Alberto Tomba by .09 of a second in a World Cup slalom.

Kosir, who trained with Tomba in Chile last summer, had a time of one minute, 34.69 seconds. Finn Christian Jagge was third.Tomba vaulted into first place in overall Cup standings, with 454 points. Kjetil Andre Aamodt of Norway slipped to second with 447, after finishing 10th. Austrian Guenther Mader fell from second to third, following a ninth-place finish.
