Dearly beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Thornton Hunter, was taken away by her Heavenly Father December 18, 1993 at home in Salt Lake City.

She was born September 27, 1896 in Denora, Pennsylvania to James and Isabella Aitken. She moved to Scotland at age five and returned to the United States at age eight. Later moving to Diamondville, Wyoming, she married her husband of 78 years, William Hunter.Thornton and William lived, worked in, and made hundreds of friends in eight different coal mining camps near Kemmerer, where they reared and educated their four sons. They next moved to Sheridan, back to Kemmerer, and then to Salt Lake City, living here for the past 16 years.

Thornton was dearly loved by her family, who was always her main concern. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was our best friend always, and the greatest mom and grandmother any person could have. We love you and will miss you dearly.

She is survived by three sons and their spouses, William S. and Lucille, Salt Lake City; Robert and Elanor, Green Valley, Ariz.; Dean and Pauline, Ashland, Oregon; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, William, December 9, 1990, and her son, James, April 25, 1977.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 23, 1993 at 12 noon, in the LDS Stake Center in Kemmerer, Wyoming. Friends may call Wednesday, 6-8 p.m at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, SLC, and Thursday, 11-11:50 a.m. at the stake center in Kemmerer.

Interment, Kemmerer City Cemetery.
