Donna Jean Roper Jensen, 67, of Salina, died December 18, 1993 in Salt Lake City, Utah at the home of her daughter.
She was born March 19, 1926 in Gunnison, Utah to Joseph Benson and DonEtta Peterson Roper. When her parents moved to Salina to run the Peterson Mortuary, she lived with her sister and finished her senior year at the Gunnison Valley High School. She attended Snow College and after World War II was over, became aquainted with Warren R. Jensen. They were married March 30, 1947 in Las Vegas, Nevada, while on their way to California where Warren was to attend Mortuary Schooling. Their marriage was solemnized on September 22, 1948 in the Manti LDS Temple. When they returned from California, they worked for her father and his partner, the late Joe Springer. A while after her father sold his interest in the Peterson Mortuary, Jean and Warren founded the Warren R. Jensen Funeral Home in the early 1960's. Warren died January 26, 1992 at home in Salina.Jean is survived by her children and their spouses, Wilda and Dean Gold of Sandy; Dirk and LaVene Jensen of West Jordan; Sam and LaRee Skaggs of Murray; and Shaun and Lynette Jensen of Salina; 13 grandchildren, Lloyd, DiVeena, Nathaniel, Marcella, Kimberly, Charisse, Jessica, Christopher, Tiffany, Nicole, Bryan, Timothy, and Chad; one sister, Beneth Embley of St. George; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She has belonged to many groups and organizations in both the Salina and Gunnison areas over the years. Some of them include, several orchestras including the Sevier Pop Orchestra, Gunnison Valley Orchestra, Snow College Orchestra, and the Orchestras for the Messiah and the Mormon Miracle pageants. She taught many classes in Primary, Relief Society and in the Scouting program. She was a seminary graduate before becoming a member of the LDS Church.
Her greatest accomplishment was raising her family while being able to help her husband in their business. She was very proud of her children's abilities.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 22, 1993 at 12 noon, in the Salina LDS 3rd Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Warren R. Jensen Funeral Home, Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30. Interment will be in the Centerfield Cemetery under the direction of the Warren R. Jensen Funeral Home.
