DeRoyce Zemira Kartchner, 75, passed away December 21, 1993, due to heart failure at the University of Utah Medical Center.

He was born July 2, 1918 in Blanding, Utah, to William Zemira and Minnie Porter Kartchner. He married Charlene Pepper, September 1, 1938 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He spent his early life working in construction and retired in 1990 as maintenance manager at Valley Fair Mall. He loved the mountains and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He served his country in Europe during WW II. He was a member of the Salt Lake County Search and Rescue for well over 20 years. He was a member of the Salt Lake Sheriff's County Reserve Corps.He is survived by his wife, Charlene; and four sons, Dee (Gerda); Jerry (Marie); Reed (Dixie) and Monte (Terry), all of Salt Lake City; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; brother, Loris, Orem and two sisters, LaRae Worthen (Jerry) and Verda Johnston, Salt Lake City.

Funeral services will be held Thurs, 10 a.m., Dec 23, 1993 at the Cottonwood Stake Center, 6890 South 2225 East. Friends may call at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Weds evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the church, Thurs from 8:45-9:45 a.m prior to services. Interment Mountain View Memorial Estates.
